These days breasts are much coveted everywhere. Whether they are used to sell perfume, clothes or a car, they have never been so exposed. It is no wonder that when they are round and well shaped, they are symbols of femininity and seduction.
However, sometimes they can be lacking in volume, seem flat or even droopy. For some women, this phenomenon can cause discomfort and hang-ups. Nowadays breast surgery makes it possible for you to modify your breasts with breast implants.
Breast implants: what are they?
Breast implants are prostheses that allow you to boost the volume of your breasts. This is usually done by undergoing a cosmetic surgery operation, thus making it possible to reshape the cleavage and that of the breasts however, in some cases, implant placement can correct a malformation or asymmetry of the breast.
There are now several types of implants made up of two different substances that will reproduce the texture of the breasts:
- With silicone gel implants, the shape remains stable and will always keep their original shape even after applying moderate pressure. In addition, its consistency is less fluid, which limits the risk of spreading the gel in the event of rupturing.
- Saline implants are currently not used very much by surgeons. Indeed, they can make the chest look somewhat unnatural. As a result the breasts may look squishy and some visible folds may appear under the skin.
The composition of the breast implant envelope is also very important. This facilitates the adjustment of your breast implants and ensures that they remain solid. There are several different types of envelopes:
- Breast prostheses made from polyurethane foam
- Silicone elastomer shells
Breast implants: how the treatment works
Pre-op
Your surgeon will see you for an initial consultation. This gives him the chance to learn about your needs, expectations as well as your past history. He will also be able to see if you have any contraindications to this operation. Finally, it will be possible for him to choose the breast implants according to the volume you are looking for and the desired effect.
The procedure
During the operation, the surgeon will perform several steps that will make it possible for him to achieve the best results:
- He will make incisions in the skin through the periareolar, axillary or sub-mammary route.
- He will then place the prosthesis in different positions according to the desired result: either under the mammary gland or under the pectoral muscle or using the Dual Plane technique.
- Once the breast implants are in place, he stitches up the incisions.
- Finally, he applies a modelling dressing with an elastic bandage.
PRP Breast implants: anaesthetic, duration and hospitalisation
The duration of a breast implant placement is 1 to 2 hours depending on the technique used by your surgeon.
A general anaesthetic is required to use this procedure. A overnight stay in hospital is required, so you can go home the day after the operation.
Breast implants: what are the results?
Results of a breast implant placement are immediately visible. However, you will have to wait two or three months to see the final results, until the swelling and bruises disappear.
The quality of the result will depend on the elasticity of your skin. Similarly, the breasts will be affected by ageing just like natural breasts.
